The RECCO Society and the ESI ski schools have developed a strategic partnership. This partnership aims to promote «passive safety» and the prevention of avalanche risks.

Recco, what is it?

With RECCO® technology, you are always locatable. Whether in the event of an avalanche accident or in the event of a disappearance in the outdoors. Equipped with RECCO reflectors, a buried person can be located quickly. And with precision by the rescue services using the RECCO detector.
The RECCO reflectors present on helmets, clothing, shoes, etc. do not replace the use of the DVA. They are complementary in function, and the RECCO technology increases the chances of being found in time.

Present in the ski areas of France and Switzerland, there are 135 piste and mountain rescue services equipped with 250 detectors.
The establishment of this partnership is in line with our strong commitment to raising awareness among our students. Moreover, it also promotes a more responsible and safer skating practice. Whether on the slopes or off them, and without sacrificing the important concept for us, which is pleasure.

Your safety, our priority

As a reminder, every year our ESI ski instructors attend off-piste safety refresher courses in order to stay up-to-date with the latest information regarding avalanche rescue, avalanche forecasting, and the anticipation of dangerous situations.

As exemplary experts, all our instructors are equipped with a «Recco reflector» on their ESI uniforms. This is to convey a broader, more effective vision of safety in all its forms.
It is therefore essential for us to inform the general public about the existing devices. Whether it is to limit risks in the mountains or to have passive location methods that offer everyone an additional chance.

Be protected during your mountain adventures

According to the recommendations of the International Alpine Rescue Commission, all skiers off the slopes should wear these 2 passive supplementary equipment: (Recco) / active (DVA) in order to be always locatable by rescuers or skiers accompanying you.

However, it is essential to bear in mind that regardless of the location equipment used, it does not guarantee any dramatic consequences of an avalanche.
